About Us

Welcome to Mama na Dada Africa

Mama na Dada-Africa (which is Swahili for "Mother and Sister") is a non-profit, non-governmental organization formed by and for African women to support the empowerment of the African girl child. We are a registered charity in Bondo District and Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa.

In the United States, we are partners with Global Partners for Development which is the only official US-based non-profit authorized to receive contributions on behalf of Mama na Dada-Africa. In 2004 we chose to partner with Global Partners because they share our commitment to help girls reach their full potential through education. Global Partners has decades of experience in partnering with the East African people to create sustainable programs that make a difference as well as experience in successfully partnering with other African non-governmental organizations.

Mama na Dada-Africa is strongly committed to local, community leadership which meshes well with Global Partners’ philosophy of working directly with community leaders to provide long-term management of projects. As an organization Mama na Dada strives to provide its donors with a complete and accurate accounting of how their funds are used.  Our partnership with Global Partners helps us meet this goal because they are skilled administrators of non-profit programs.  We are pleased to be associated with an organization that has a 4-Star rating as a charitable organization and which received the prestigious Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award of Excellence for 2006 from Chapman College.
